after a journey of 40 days, which took off from Satish Dhawan Space Centre. Vikram Lander made a soft landing on the Moon on August 23 at 6.04 am Indian Standard Time.
ISRO initiated the automated landing sequence at 5.44 am Indian Standard Time.
Vikram Lander is now attempting a soft landing on the Moon using its onboard computer and logic. While IStrack’s mission controllers will closely monitor this, the lander’s onboard systems are doing all the heavy lifting.
The Chandrayaan-3 successfully lands on Moon mission is a follow-up to the Chandrayaan-2 mission of 2019, when the Vikram lander hit the lunar surface. The primary objective of the mission is simple – to demonstrate the space agency’s capability to perform a soft landing on the Moon. With this mission, India has joined a small and elite group of countries to have soft-landed on the Moon. As of now, the grouping has three members—the United States, the Soviet Union, and China.
